Overview

We are One Ocean Zanzibar, www.zanzibaroneocean.com, the longest standing dive centre in Zanzibar.

We are recruiting a senior dive professional to lead and coordinate our dive centre operations. This is a long term position. Minimum 2 years commitment with 3 month initial trial period.

To qualify, candidates must have at least two years’ experience in a senior management role within the diving industry, be fluent in English, and fluent in either French or German.

The role combines operational leadership with on-site involvement, ensuring safe operations, effective staff management, sound financial oversight, and consistent service standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily dive centre operations (dives, boats, logistics, courses, pool trials)
• Support reservations, WhatsApp communication, and email enquiries when required
• Lead and supervise base leaders, instructors, and support staff
• Ensure compliance with PADI, SSI, and Tanzanian regulations
• Enforce standard operating procedures and safety systems
• Monitor sales performance, costs, and base-level reporting
• Maintain service quality and handle escalated client or operational issues
• Maintain relationships with hotels, agents, suppliers, and partners
• Teach and guide divers as required to remain operationally current

Essential Requirements

• Minimum 2 years’ senior management experience in the diving industry
• PADI OWSI or higher (active status and valid insurance)
• Fluency in English and either French or German
• Strong operational and leadership skills
• Proficient with email and basic office software
• Own full diving equipment
• Valid driving licence (required)
• Able to live and work in a remote environment
• Physically fit and available for flexible working hours

Working Conditions

• Full-time position, 6 days per week
• 28 days pay holidays per year
• Flexibility required during peak season
• Regular presence across multiple dive bases
• Accommodation and vehicle provided
• Reports directly to company directors/GM
