About Into the Blue Scuba Diving Center

Into the Blue Scuba Diving Center is dedicated to providing safe, professional, and memorable diving experiences. Our team is passionate about the ocean, diving, and creating an exceptional experience for every customer who joins us on the water.

We are looking for a reliable, safety-focused, and experienced Dive Skipper to join our team and take responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of our dive boats.

The Role

As Dive Skipper, you will be responsible for the safe operation and navigation of the dive vessel, supporting our dive team, and ensuring our guests have a smooth and enjoyable experience on the water.

The ideal candidate is confident handling a dive boat, understands the demands of commercial dive operations, and remains calm and professional in changing conditions. If you are also a PADI OWSI that is a massive advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate and navigate the dive vessel during daily dive operations.
• Conduct thorough pre-departure safety and vessel checks.
• Transport divers and crew safely to and from dive sites.
• Monitor weather, sea conditions and other factors affecting safe operations.
• Coordinate closely with dive instructors, guides, and other crew.
• Assist with diver entries and exits and maintain awareness of divers in the water.
• Maintain constant vigilance for diver safety while the vessel is underway or stationary.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and assist with emergency procedures.
• Ensure all required safety equipment and vessel equipment is operational and readily available.
• Keep the boat clean, organised, and properly maintained.
• Report mechanical, safety, or equipment issues.
• Provide friendly and professional service to customers.
• Assist with general dive-center and boat duties when required.

Requirements

• Valid SAMSA Cat C/B skipper ticket
• SAMSA Diving Endorsement
• South African Passport holder
• Towing License – EB / Code 10 SA Drivers License
• Current required medical, first-aid, and safety certifications.
• Proven experience operating boats in a professional or recreational diving environment.
• Excellent understanding of marine and diver-safety procedures.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Physically fit and comfortable working in a marine environment.
• Reliable, punctual, and professional.
• Scuba diving experience or a recognised diving qualification is highly advantageous.
