Scuba Equipment Technician & Inventory Manager

Utila Dive Center is seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized, and certified Scuba Equipment Technician & Inventory Manager to oversee our facility’s equipment department. 

As a world-renowned PADI Career Development Center (CDC), we maintain a massive inventory of rental gear, student kits, and technical diving equipment. The ideal candidate will ensure our gear remains in pristine, safe condition while keeping our workshop and inventory seamlessly organized.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Repair

• Service and overhaul our fleet of rental regulators, BCDs, and cylinder valves.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot gear malfunctions quickly to keep courses running smoothly.
• Maintain the compressor room, including air quality testing, filter changes, and routine maintenance on our high-pressure systems.
• Manage hydrostatic testing and visual inspections (VIP) for scuba cylinders.

Inventory & Logistics

• Conduct regular inventory audits of all rental gear, rental stock, and spare parts.
• Track gear requirements across dive boats, student groups, and professional-level courses.
• Organize and optimize the gear room and technician workshop for maximum efficiency.

Procurement & Vendor Relations

• Anticipate and manage ordering cycles for spare parts, new equipment, and workshop consumables.
• Maintain relationships with major scuba manufacturers and local distributors.

Requirements & Qualifications

Essential

• Certified Scuba Service Technician with active credentials from major manufacturers (e.g., Scubapro, Aqua Lung, Cressi, or Apeks).
• Proven experience managing inventory, ideally within a high-volume dive center, resort, or retail environment.
• Strong computer literacy, with experience using inventory management software and spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets).
• Fluency in English (written and spoken).
• Exceptional organizational skills and a proactive approach to preventative maintenance.

Desirable (Plus Factors)

• Tech Savvy. Ability to set-up and monitor networks and security cameras.
• Gas Blender or Compressor Technician certifications.
• PADI Divemaster or Instructor rating (to assist with boat logistics or guest relations if needed).
• Conversational Spanish, which is highly beneficial for coordinating with local staff and logistics handling in Honduras.
• Prior experience living and working on an island or in a remote tropical location.
