Job Description
Signature Scuba, a respected Southern California dive center known for high‑quality training, customer service, and a strong community presence, is seeking a full‑time Shop Manager to oversee daily operations and support the continued growth of the business.
The ideal candidate is a diver with retail or service‑industry leadership experience who can manage staff, maintain shop standards, coordinate training schedules, and deliver an exceptional customer experience. This role is hands‑on, fast‑paced, and perfect for someone who loves diving and wants to grow into a long‑term leadership position.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Shop Operations
• Oversee daily opening and closing procedures
• Maintain a clean, organized, professional retail environment
• Manage inventory, restocking, and vendor orders
• Ensure compressor, banks, and fill station operations follow safety protocols
• Oversee rental gear maintenance, inspections, and tracking
Customer Service & Sales
• Assist customers with gear selection, sizing, and product education
• Handle sales transactions, POS management, and cash handling
• Build strong customer relationships and promote repeat business
• Manage phone calls, emails, and customer inquiries
Training & Scheduling
• Coordinate class schedules with instructors and DMs
• Manage student paperwork, eLearning, and certification tracking
• Support course logistics, including pool sessions and open‑water weekends
Staff Leadership
• Supervise and train retail staff and part‑time employees
• Maintain a positive, professional team environment
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, and performance management
Marketing & Community Engagement
• Support social media posts, promotions, and special events
• Assist with travel program coordination and trip sign‑ups
• Represent Signature Scuba at local dive events and expos
Requirements
• Active diver (Rescue, DM, or Instructor preferred)
• Retail, service, or shop‑management experience
• Strong communication and customer‑service skills
• Ability to multitask in a busy environment
• Familiarity with scuba gear, brands, and equipment servicing (preferred)
• Compressor/fill station experience (or willingness to train)
